"Daniel."
"One person asked about kids."
"And?"
"Melissa said we had a nine-year-old."
I felt something inside me snap.
"Get out."
He stood.
"Laura."
"Get out of this house."
"Please."
"You let another woman claim my child."
"She didn't claim him."
"She stood beside my husband wearing a wedding ring and told people she had my son."
"It was just conversation."
I threw the photo booth picture at him.
"Get out."
He didn't move.
So I said, "If you make me ask again, I will call Claire and have her bring Ben home while we are still having this conversation."
He went silent, then picked up his keys.
He slept at his brother's house.
I did not sleep at all.
The next morning, Melissa messaged me.
I hadn't contacted her.
