Do not pack the container so tightly that the lid cannot close.
Check whether the lid is warped, cracked, or damaged. If your municipal container no longer closes correctly, contact the responsible waste service if replacement or repair is available.
5. Clean Spills Immediately
One leaking
garbage bag can coat the bottom of a bin with food liquid.
Even after the bag is collected, that residue may remain and continue attracting insects.
When you notice a leak, clean it rather than waiting until the smell becomes severe.
A clean-looking bin can still attract flies if liquid from one leaking bag remains trapped beneath the liner or around the wheels.
6. Use Bin Liners Correctly
A properly fitted liner can reduce direct contact between garbage and the container.
However, liners only help when they remain intact.
If liquid leaks between the liner and the bin, it can stay hidden for days. Periodically check beneath the liner and clean the container when necessary.
