Coworker Sent Woman Photos from Her Husband's Office Halloween Party – Then She Saw Who He Had Introduced as His Wife

Daniel barely used Facebook, but his profile still publicly listed me as his wife. My profile picture wasn't my face. It was of Ben standing beside a pumpkin patch, and most of my personal photos were visible only to friends.

So Rachel could see that Daniel's wife was named Laura.

But she couldn't see what Laura actually looked like.

When I asked her later, she explained that Daniel had introduced the woman at the party as Melissa. Since Facebook listed his wife as Laura, she assumed Melissa might be a middle name, nickname, or simply the name I used socially.

That was why she messaged me without realizing she was talking to a completely different woman.

My name is Laura. I'm 37.

Daniel and I had been married for 11 years.

We had a nine-year-old son named Ben.

And my name was definitely not Melissa.

I stared at the photograph until the image started to blur.
