My Father Was Seeing My Seriously Ill Mom’s Sister, and After We Lost Mom, They Quickly Announced Their Engagement – At Their Wedding, I Made Sure They’d Never Forget That Day Hajaji

Lisa laughed.

That familiar laugh.

Dad opened the lid.

Lisa reached inside and lifted the two brass numbers.

She frowned.

“What are these?”

Dad had already noticed the card.

He picked it up.

Read it.

And looked directly at me.

Lisa grabbed the card from his hand.

She read the sentence aloud.

“Since you were both waiting for Mom’s house, I saved you the only part that was available.”

Her expression changed instantly.

“What did you do?”

Several people nearby turned toward us.

Dad folded the card as though hiding it would somehow change what it said.

I looked from him to Lisa.

“Nothing.”

I let the word hang there.

Then I added,

“Mom did.”

Lisa stared at me.

“What did your mother do?”

I picked up my purse.

“You should probably go see for yourselves.”

Lisa grabbed Dad’s arm.

“George, what is she talking about?”

He didn’t answer.
