What If Maggots Are Crawling Out of the Bin?
Larvae sometimes leave their food source when they are ready to enter the next stage of development. This can result in maggots appearing on the ground around a garbage container.
Remove the garbage and clean the bin first.
Then sweep or wash the surrounding hard surface as appropriate. Look underneath the container, around wheels, along walls, and in nearby cracks.
Do not allow contaminated cleaning water to enter areas where food is prepared or children play.
What If Maggots Appear Inside the House?
If larvae repeatedly appear indoors, finding the source becomes particularly important.
