At the age of 64, I married a 31-year-old man. Six months later, I noticed that every evening he secretly added something to my drink and insisted that I drink it to the last drop.

I remembered Daniel assuring me that it was just routine

documents.

"His company is on the list of funding entities," Dr. Reeves explained.

I felt like everything was out of my mind.

My husband was not limited to organizing medical examinations.

He was linked to a research program that I never knowingly consented to.

He looked at the screen.

His expression changed.

He's your husband.

How does he know I'm here?

  • I don't know.

He let the connection stop, then pulled a sealed envelope out of the cupboard.

“Someone provided this with instructions yesterday to tell you if the results indicate a link to this research program. My name was on the envelope.

There was an old photograph inside.

The hospital room.

A narrow bed.

There's a young man standing next to it.

And there's a gray-haired woman on the bed who's strikingly like me.
