In a small town where traditions still held strong, Marko was known as an unlucky man – or so his neighbors thought. While others celebrated the birth of sons, Marko had eight daughters. For years, he listened to mocking comments, whispers about how he had “no heir” and how his name would die out.
Marko, however, worked hard and quietly. He invested all his love, time and the little money he had in the education and upbringing of his eight girls. He did not care what the village thought; he taught them honesty, work and mutual love. Time passed, the girls grew up, got married and built their own lives, but they never forgot the home from which they came.
