The consequences of sleeping with your cell phone: a more dangerous habit than it seems

In addition, the simple fact of having the phone within reach generates a kind of unconscious dependence. The brain stays in “alert mode” waiting for notifications, vibrations, or sounds. Even when the cell phone is silent, the mind is predisposed to review it. This causes a lighter sleep, with fewer deep and restful phases. Over time, this lack of quality rest can lead to chronic fatigue, concentration problems, irritability, and decreased performance at work or studies.

But the problems don't end there. One of the least talked about risks, although equally worrying, is constant exposure to electromagnetic waves. Although the radiation levels emitted by mobile phones are low and within the limits considered “safe”, sleeping with the device glued to the head or under the pillow exposes the body for many hours in a row to that type of emissions. Some studies suggest that this prolonged exposure may have cumulative effects over time, especially in the nervous system.
