Back across town at the county’s largest BMW dealership, panic had already set in behind the glass office.
The sales manager, who had watched Mary leave without lifting a finger, was now staring at his laptop screen in absolute horror. An urgent corporate alert had just flashed through the internal dealer portal: the multi-year regional corporate partnership review had been pulled forward, and Carter Valley Farms’ account—their single largest revenue driver—had been flagged as Terminated with Cause due to unacceptable dealership conduct.
The phone on his desk rang shrilly. He picked it up with a shaking hand.
“Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?” the district director’s voice roared through the receiver so loudly that the receptionist at the front desk flinched. “Carter Valley just cancelled their entire pipeline and routed it to an independent dealer across the county! Pack your desk. You and Grant are finished.”
