My Daughter Named My Husband—Then Police Opened His Folder

The name on the screen was MOM.

No one moved until Reynolds pulled on a glove, removed the phone, and accepted the call on speaker.

He said nothing.

Barbara’s voice filled the office.

“Andrew? Did she leave the hospital?”

Andrew stared at the phone.

“Andrew, answer me.

You said Amanda would come home once I threatened the locks.

You need to get rid of that folder before Katie remembers anything else.”

The room became perfectly still.

Barbara continued, unaware that four people were listening.

“And wipe those messages.

I told you not to keep them.”

Reynolds ended the call.

Andrew closed his eyes.

The officer nearest him reached for his wrists.

That was when Andrew lunged.

He did not run for the door.

He went for the folder.

His hand struck the desk lamp, sending it crashing to the floor.

Papers scattered across the carpet.

An officer caught Andrew’s arm and twisted it behind his back before he could reach the insurance policy.

“Get off me!” he shouted.

“Those are private documents.”

The second officer pressed him against the desk and secured the handcuffs.
