Elisa Harper.
She had been eleven years old in 1987.
But the woman lying before her now appeared to be in her fifties.
Elisa spoke weakly.
“How much time has passed?”
Layan didn’t answer.
Instead, she asked:
“What happened to the plane?”
Elisa closed her eyes.
Then whispered:
“We didn’t crash.”

She said the plane had landed on an island that did not exist on any map.
There was a runway hidden in the fog.
When the aircraft door opened, men dressed in gray boarded the plane.
They did not speak.
They took the passengers away one by one.
Then they were transported to buildings beneath the ground.
Elisa said:
“They wanted us to forget.”
“Who?”
She shook her head.
“We never knew.”
“And the others? Where are they?”
Elisa looked directly at Layan.
“Some died. Some escaped. And some… no longer wanted to remember.”
Then she suddenly grabbed Layan’s arm.
“But there were children.”
