I Cleaned the Same Mansion for 18 Years – Three Days After They Fired Me, a Lawyer Called and Told Me to Sit Down

PART 3: THE LETTER THAT ENDED THE FIGHT

When I arrived at Nathaniel’s office, Julian was already seated beside two attorneys in expensive suits. I placed the framed photograph on the conference table and sat opposite him.

“Let’s be reasonable,” Julian said. “Sign the waiver, and I’ll increase the settlement to fifty thousand dollars.”

“I did not come here to sign anything.”

One of his lawyers leaned forward.

“You should consider the cost of lengthy litigation. Our client is making a generous offer.”

“Your client threw me out after eighteen years with four hundred dollars. I would not call that generosity.”

Nathaniel gave me a small, encouraging nod. I removed the letter from my handbag.

“What is that?” Julian demanded.

“Something your father wanted me to find.”

Nathaniel looked toward me.

“Marta, with your permission, everyone should hear his words.”

My hands trembled as I unfolded the page.
