The Last Letter from Maple Street

On the small table rested one final envelope addressed to Emma.

Inside was a handwritten message.

“Dear Friend,

You once told a stranger that he mattered.

You were right.

Because of your kindness, I laughed again.

I lived again.

I loved life again.

Never underestimate the power of a few honest words.

One letter can become a friendship.

A friendship can become a family.

And a family can change the world.

Thank you for giving an old man his life back.

Your forever friend,

Walter.”

Emma folded the letter carefully.

She never cried because the story had ended.

She smiled because it had happened.

Today, if you ever visit Maple Street, you’ll find a small wooden mailbox in front of the old Bennett house.

A sign beside it reads:

“Take a letter. Leave a letter. Someone, somewhere, may need your kindness today.”

And every week, new letters appear.

Because kindness never truly ends.

It simply waits for the next person willing to write.
