“You told her?” Rosie asked Ben.
He nodded.
“Everything.”
Rosie looked at me carefully.
“Are you angry?”
“Yes,” I said.
Her smile faded.
“But not with you. Never with you.”
She reached out, and I took her hand.
“You should have trusted me.”
“I wanted to,” she whispered. “I just didn’t want you to lose your parents because of me.”
I bent over and kissed her cheek.
“You were never the reason. Their choices were.”
