Gavin turned so quickly that the chain at his wrist struck the table.
“Warden!” he shouted. “I need the warden now!”
One guard stepped forward.
“Cole, calm down.”
“My daughter found a recording device,” Gavin said. “It belonged to my wife. It may have recorded the night Martin Hale was killed.”
The guard’s expression hardened with doubt.
Gavin leaned toward him.
“Please. You can lock me back in that cell afterward. You can do whatever you have to do. But call my attorney and tell her to find a blue bird in a sewing box.”
Chloe looked up at the officers.
“It has Daddy’s voice,” she said quietly.
Then she added the words that made the entire room fall silent.
“And another man says he is going to make Daddy take the blame.”
